Things don't go well for you if you mess with the anointed and appointed!
Trouble makers cause trouble in their current location but also there future destination.
Jesus says we will be known by our love, not by our theology or stance on an issue.

Best selling authors boundaries for leaders

NOTES"
-    " the bible can make you well and not crazy
-    In knowing your identity the first thing you have to know is what your not
-    Boundaries for leaders:
-    Road it identity has to be a road of focused attention
-    Attend to what is relevant to who you are and who you are going to become
-    You have to inhibit everything else
-    You must have a working memory of this
Ephesians 2-god created you for good works by his workmanship
"If everything is important, nothing is."
-    Your identity can only be realized in a positive emotional climate
Sometimes doing things are so important that the high probably of failure is worth it.
God does not let people be divisive in his camp.
-     Your identity in leadership is not meant to be done alone
Your brain runs on oxygen, glucose, and relationships
Story of a monkeys stress level being cut in half as a result of not being alone in a stressful environment
    Get with your Monkeys
Questions you have to ask yourself as a leader:
-    Where am I?
-    Where is the enemy?
-    Where are my buddies?
-    Your brain is designed to have a desire for control....but self control is Gods intention and a fruit of the spirit

-    As a leader, you have to let them go. If there is someone you have to control, fire them.

Random Lessons on Leading Well (especially in new environments)

True loyalty is telling people what they need to know what they need to know it.  Loyalty is not simply supporting the person you are trying to be loyal to.  Its respecting that person enough to having the hard conversations.

Interpersonal 360 degree leadership requires us to disagree without being disagreeable.

When leading below a direct superior, be sure to understand exactly where the 'line' is...what can you do and not do.  This is a practical tool for leading those around you!

When beginning a new leadership position, be sure to begin well, be humble, admit your still learning, and serve those whom you have authority over.

Ensure you embrace what you don't like so you can learn from it!

KEY to disagreement is not 'powering up' on those who are working for you, the key is to earn respect disagreeing to make the people around you better.

Be sure to admit to those around you, that you 'need their help'.

Before stepping over a pre-defined line, ask the boss.

Leaders are always faster than people they are leading.

People don't want to see how well a person of influence deals with issues, but how they deal with it transparently.

There is a big difference between a person liking a respecting you.

Stories stick, principles fade.

A random danger -- we pour into groups more than we should, and less into individuals than we should.  All because it is safer to pour into a group.  Authenticity is not as required.

When pouring into a person, don't expect anything in return.

If you pour your life into someone you might help them be saved from a life of bad choices.   Do for one what you wish you could do for many. (Andy Stanley)

Intention doesn't matter, direction determines destination.

Generosity is giving of yourself what people need most.

2013 Lesson from our Leadership Team

While I will maintain all privacy, I wanted to include some of the lessons of our leadership team that meets on a monthly direction to determine the direction of our church.

*Many of our people are missing 'Tribal Knowledge' the knowledge that comes with being with us for longer periods of time.

*Life's not fair.  And thats ok.  If it were, we'd all be in hell.

*We must not be dependent on ourselves, but dependent on God.  Just like a professional athlete, the game will slow down.

*Be adaptable.  Learn the ways of the tribe.  Earn Trust.  Build Relationships.  Understand why we do what we do before you try to change it.

*Culture doesn't really care what we do as a church.  We are not going to be cool enough to matter.  Truth is what matters.

*At this point in our church history, its not about talent or skill...its about leading people.

*Obedience today is preparation for tomorrow.

*It is hard to learn in the midst of chaos.  However, it is important to cling to our 'one thing', to know God intimately.

*The lessons of life do not get easier.

*I don't know as much as I thought I did.  Equip before I empower.

*Reward what you want repeated.

*Inspect what you expect.

Orange Conference Breakout Session - Carey Nieuwhof

Here are some thoughts from Carey Nieuwhof in his breakout session covering the 'Future of Church.'

Thesis:  everything is changing

--Change is not an option, but how your respond to it is.

Five Traits of Churches that will impact the Future:

1)   Future Churches will commit to the message but stay flexible with the method.
Innovate to bring unchanging message to a changing world
Clearly distinguish between mission, vision, and strategy
KEY:  Evaluate Regularly
2)   Future Churches meet people where they are before they help people see where they could be.
Ministry before theology
__Children will evaluate us by how we treat their parents
3)   Future Churches will value online relationships as real relationships.
--future churches will understand that some people will only connect online
4)   Future Churches will embrace quicker, lighter, smaller, footprints
--Fewer resources on facilities, lower cost venues, will translate to higher growth
5)   Future Churches will encourage experimentation
--Future churches will risk failure to achieve success
--Greatest hindrance to future success is current success.
--Devote 10% of your time and budget to things your not sure will work and reward that which works.

The future church must create a culture of innovation.
